Bio

In 2014 Annie completed a BA at the University of Queensland (majors in Anthropology and Studies in Religion). She is currently completing a BA Honours, focusing on the anthropology of health. Annie strongly believes that art, creative expression and social theatre are a means to highlight and explore these questions of ritual, health, oppression, and what it means for humans to flourish.

Annie has been developing her creative and writing capacity since a young age through poetry and journaling. She has contributed to theatre productions such as ‘The Magical Healing Power of Dandelions’- a short film for the 2008 Heart of Gold Film Festival by Cooran Youth Theatre Company (CYTCOM), Lilly’s Madder Hatter’s Party at the 2010 Manly Arts Festival, as well as MARACCAS 6 week Creative Self Expression Workshop Program and performance in 2012.

Annie’s creative writing and academic pursuits contribute greatly to the research and development aspect of MARACCAS projects and provide them with both a critical lenses and academic rigor. Furthermore, they provide insight into the anthropological contexts of creativity and the arts.

In 2014 Annie worked on Pedal Brisbane â€“ An arts event held at the Queensland Museum that celebrated and advocated bicycle culture. She also completed a student placement with the Queensland Aids Council, where she found a passionate voice for issues relating to gender and sexuality. Annie is currently the Vice President of UQ SHAG (Sexual health Action Group), at not-profit organisation that endeavours to promote safer sex practices throughout the University of Queensland’s St. Lucia Camus, normalise sexual health dialogue and create a sex positive campus culture, and emphasise the need and importance of consent in all sexual relationships.

Annie is also an experienced and talented Barista. She has created a light-hearted platform that explores her varied interests, an aptly named blog called Babes, Bikes and Beans Check it out!!
