MAIDA LILLEY PROJECT 2013
Funded by Brisbane City Council's Housing Support Program Grant
A 6 week program of workshops and events tailored for the homeless community and people living in social housing in Fortitude Valley and surrounding areas.
Workshops included Yoga & Meditation, Martial Arts, Dance, Physical Theatre, Circus Arts and Crafts, Community Dinner Nights, Entertainment Nights and a Rock Climbing activity.
It was great to be part of the community, see people expressing themselves and start to open up in spite of the difficulties they were facing. We really saw people come together and support each other emotionally and people even went on to continue practices in yoga and meditation and arts. Lots of positive outcomes!

ACTIVE ARTS SCHOOLS PROGRAM - Brazil 2012 & 2013
As part of our overseas cultural exchange and volunteer programs, we presented our Active Arts and Educational Seminars in a number of primary schools and high schools in the local council area of Cambe in south Brazil.
The active days with the primary school groups incorporated educational exercises and activities, drama games, and sustainable environmental development. The high school program involved classroom talks and discussions about sustainable tourism in Australia, visa and travel information, career and study opportunities and working in the Creative Industries.
The volunteers were received with such enthusiasm and happiness, that they were invited back to the schools to run the project again for a consecutive year.
