Day 1: Where is where and who is who?

Waking up early from a late night in a hostel in Guilin by a wiggling noise coming from the upper timber structure of the bunked bed. Made my braing start thinking about time, so 10 mins ago I decided to check the cloudy and wet weather outside, in that instant, the person who was sharing the bunked bed with me jumped out and started to pack up stuff in to his backpack. All the zipper, bag and cloth noises made me imagine that I was performing all these noises. Still fighting againt my sleepy head I looked at who was the noise performer then I realized that was a friend I met the other day in Brisbane who refered the hostel for me, Mr. Jordan "the barman". You will know why he is the barman in this blogstory soon.

Half surprised by the expected coincidence we started to share what we interpreted from the pre-trip information about time, location and how to get the Train Station without any scratch. On our departure from the hostel the rain, of course got worse giving us another reason to run as fast as the time spent trying to wake up.

Despite our easy adaptation to the wet weather Jordan and I had faced our first challenge in our journey through China which was to figure out the secret of how to cross a busy street in China with millions of cars, trucks and billions of bikes and motorbikes GOODNESS.

Noticed that the bikes come with the pedestrians, cars, trucks, helicopeters and even with a touch of magic - coming from nowhere. I was having difficulties in crossing the street with the traffic light green, for us pedestrian, but Jordan was in China already for a week before my arrival' He just said: "follow me", and like a miracle in that moment we crossed the street on an almost straight line. Looks like we nailed that challenge with eyes closed, curioslly I asked him how dude? He said - pretent you don't see anyone coming like you close your eyes and then they will stop for you. WOW dude that is surreal!

Finally we arrived at the Train Station car park safe and wet. Without much effort we found the van with the new characters of this blogstory, picture below:
